Antonio María Bucareli y Ursúa, Viceroy of Mexico, letter, 1775 November 26.

Letter (typed transcript) from Viceroy Bucareli to an unidentified high official (Julián de Arriaga, Minister of the Indies?); quoting from earlier instructions on exploration of the California coast and investigation of any establishments planted there by foreign powers; reporting briefly on the recent exploration under Hezeta, Ayala, and Bodega y Cuadra; recommending for the immediate future concentration upon land communications between Sonora and Monterey; praising the port of San Francisco as potentially useful; and asking that these comments be submitted to the King.
